Minature Regimental Colors

$160.00

Colors have been in use for centuries and were the result of two practical requirements: the need of some mark of distinction between families and a conspicuous rallying point in battle. Early man fixed his family badge to a pole: medieval knights followed the same idea when they placed their armorial bearings on their banner that they float high above the melee. As armies began to adopt a system of regimentation in the early 17th century, each company was allotted a color, a custom which prevailed for about a hundred years. Since 1751, regiments have been limited to two Colors, the Sovereign's and the Regimental.

You can buy the Regimental Color & the Queen's Color as a package. Each miniature Color is 11"x8" and is beautifully embroidered. These come unframed.
